Product Description
About this material
Black turmeric is the moodier cousin of the everyday yellow curcuma. The rhizome appears bluish-black when cut and dries down to a smoky, charcoal-toned powder β visually striking in a finished product, and historically used in Ayurvedic dermatology for skin clarity and evenness.
It is a difficult plant to cultivate at scale, so supply is limited and prices are higher than regular turmeric. We work with smallholder farmers in Odisha and Manipur who grow it in small annual lots.
